Book Bat - THE FLINTS
If Norfolk had a heart it would be made of flint. Inspired by one of Norfolk’s oldest materials. Beneath the chalk at a strange place called Grime’s Graves (named after the devil holes of the pagan god grim), people were mining beautiful dark flint.
A little ray of darkness from the city of stories. Norwich the UNESCO city of literature, inspiring and birthing authors, writers, storytellers throughout the ages… And the home of the Norwich Book Bat. She can be found haunting libraries, bookshops or any dusty bookshelf.
Colour: chalky whites, marbled blues and greys
Talisman: keeping your spark alive in the dark, endurance.
9.5cm tall
Each one is individually hand-cast and finished as part of this small batch.
The Book Bat you receive will be similar to those shown in the group photograph. While they share the same form and finish, subtle differences in tone, markings, and character make every piece slightly unique.
Each order is selected at random when packed. You won’t be able to choose a specific Book Bat — part of the pleasure is not knowing exactly which one will make its way to you.
